Belle was truly given the gift of life at the 11th hour. One of our wonderful volunteers happened to be at one of LA’s highest kill shelters and saw this little angel cowering in the corner (she instinictively must have known she was on her last hour on this earth!). She asked the worker what Belle’s status was and was bluntly told they were getting ready to take her to the “back” (euphamisim for the axe room). Horrified, our volunteer said the only words she could utter — “I’ll take her!”
If there was ever a doubt that rescue dogs are eternally greatful for a second chance at life, Belle is a shining example. This little princess is as sweet and loving and gentle as anyone could ever hope for in an adorable little pooch. She’s a petite 8 pounds, about 2-3 years old and a mix of possibly westie terrier and who knows what (and who cares!). She’s perfectly well behaved, loves everyone and everything and only wants to please and cuddle. You couldn’t possibly ask for a more perfect dog than Belle!

They just don’t come any more affectionate and friendly than Tule. This 13 pound little bichon is about 3-4 and has the sweetest personality in the world. Tule is love starved right now and will wrap his little paws around you and want to climb up in your lap to be held and loved. I think he’d crawl inside you if he could! Tule is sight challenged with a cataract in one eye and diminished sight in the other. We have an appt. with an opthomologist in a week to find out how much of a limitation it is and if anything can be done about it. If there can be, we will hold a fundraiser to do the surgery as this little guy has a long and happy life ahead of him. Since dogs rely mostly on their sense of smell, Tule doesn’t seem to let that stop him from enjoying his walks and he loves rides in the car. He’s also great with kids and strangers and happy to greet everyone with a wagging tail and big doggie kiss. Tule gets along well with other dogs and would do best with someone that was home a lot.

Funny name for a funny guy. This spunky maltese mix is about 12 pounds and all muscle. He’s approximately 7-8 years old but acts more like 3 or 4! He’s a reall cuddle bug and loves snuggling. Dude is great in a car and loves rides as well as doggie walks and gets along well with other dogs. He was dumped by his male owner at the shelter so he’s a little more partial to females right now (understandbly so!) He’s well behaved and quite and will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, hassel-free companion.

Lucy was rescued moments before being euthanized at the shelter. She is an adorable playful and very affectionate 18 mo old terrier who weighs 24 pounds. She loves playing tug of war, fetch, riding in cars and going on walks. She is great on leash, house trained and is very well behaved given she is only 18 months old.
She is great with other dogs and is best friends with one of her foster brother Bentley. Lucy is a little shy but bonds quickly.
Lucy would make a wonderful addition to any family. Lucy can be placed in a home with kids 12 yrs or older.

Jason is a sweet and gentle ‘giant’ ( I would like to somehow let people know he is a bit clumsy and big…that is what i mean by giant ..he just seems big and the tripping and fumbling makes him see a bit bigger i guess) . This purebred bichon was found on the streets and - judging by his then poor condition - had likely been there for some time. Jason has limited eye sight which has made his adjustment slow going since he arrived at his foster home a week and a half ago. He has blossomed a great deal but is still hand shy especially around his head and neck although he is improving daily . He has had a hard time trusting anyone enough to let them pick him up , however each day that trust grows. Now he likes to stand by your side for delicate rubs on his back, chest and neck and might even give you one small kiss on your face if you kiss his nose. Jason likes to lie on his bed and hang out watching everyone go by or follow you through the house in hopes of getting some extra snacks . He is not a barker and just loves hanging with you while you watch TV, wandering and sniffing everything in the back yard…. or following you around the house while you do chores. Although he has been in his foster home for just over a week he appears completely house broken and does not mind other dogs. Jason is about 9 years old and needs a loving home he can call his own where someone will have the patience and love to continue to help him.
